Overall, I enjoyed this read. It made me uncomfortable in ways that I wasn't prepared for, but I think that was ultimately a good thing. It was a very visceral, grounded, but somehow also fantastical. I think it was the language. I haven't encountered a novel written in a style like this before, and I really enjoyed it. The language was so colorful, and it really activated my senses and helped me paint a picture of the characters and settings.
If I gave this a rating, it would be a four out of five spinning books. I think this is skewed a little because I was more in the mood for a lighthearted escape from reality, and let me tell you, this was not it. A great story about redemption and finding yourself though, and full of characters and themes you could discuss for hours.
